Building Resilience Through Mindful Education

Inner Intelligence Psychotherapy was founded to provide deeper, integrative care, blending modern psychotherapy with mindfulness practice. Recognizing that traditional talk therapy alone may not meet every need, our psychotherapist in New York City developed a nuanced approach fostering emotional insight, adaptive coping, and resilience—especially for professionals and creatives navigating transitions. From the start, we have prioritized trauma-aware care, responsible boundaries, and evidence-informed support so clients feel safe, seen, and supported in every step of their journey.

Mindful education is central to our approach, helping clients cultivate awareness, strengthen coping skills, and integrate reflective practices into daily life. Our psychotherapist combines psychotherapy with mindful education to guide individuals toward clarity, emotional balance, and sustainable personal growth. Through confidential reflection, adaptive plans, and a collaborative, nonjudgmental environment, we empower clients to build resilience, navigate change, and foster lasting wellbeing.

Cristie is a licensed psychotherapist and clinical researcher based in New York City whose work integrates psychodynamic, humanistic, and evidence-based approaches to psychotherapy. Her clinical and research interests focus on psychedelic science, trauma, neurodiversity, and the therapeutic integration of non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC). She works with individuals, couples, families, and groups, specializing in the treatment of ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relational difficulties, self-esteem concerns, and existential distress. Her work emphasizes the intersection of psychological science, meaning-making, and human development, with particular attention to fostering resilience, self-efficacy, and psychological flexibility.

Cristie earned dual master's degrees from Columbia University in Counseling Psychology and a third masters in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Her interdisciplinary academic training examined Indigenous ceremonial practices, urban shamanism, and cross-cultural perspectives on ritual, healing, and consciousness. She is certified in Psychedelic Assisted Therapies by Naropa University and in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS; now Lykos/Resilient) and served as a co-investigator and co-therapist on the FDA-regulated Phase 3 clinical trials evaluating MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD. She currently serves as a clinical researcher at the NYU Langone Center for Psychedelic Medicine within the Grossman School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry, contributing to clinical research involving psilocybin-assisted therapy.

In addition to her clinical and research activities, Cristie provides clinical supervision, professional education, and consultation for psychotherapists and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. Her teaching and mentorship focus on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, ethical clinical practice, integration, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive treatment. As a bicultural, bilingual, multiracial Latina born in Colón, Panama, and raised in Panama, Germany, and the United States, she brings an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspective to both her research and clinical practice, with a longstanding commitment to advancing equitable and inclusive mental healthcare.
